Minute 319 Monitoring Effort

Minute 319, an addition to the 1944 U.S. – Mexico Water Treaty, calls for the U.S. and Mexico to share future shortages and surpluses of Colorado River water, allows Mexico to store Colorado River water in Lake Mead, and provided 130 million cubic meters (105,000 acre-feet) of water to the Colorado River Delta as a pulse flow in Spring, 2014.  An additional 65 million cubic meters (52,500 acre-feet) are being provided as a base flow.  Minute 319 is in effect from 2012 through 2017.

The Science Team is evaluating the hydrological and biological effects of Minute 319 pulse flow and base flow releases.
